Heal the Storyteller

Author(s): Rebecca Roberts

New Age | Short Stories | Travel Writing

Heal the Storyteller is an enchanting anthology of short stories (along with the odd memoir piece) inspired by the expansive terrain of travel, the colourful world of teaching and the eternal landscape of the soul. Intricately crafted as ‘bite sized chunks’ of sheer reading pleasure, the stories are to be savoured when those precious pockets of ‘me time’ open up (ideally, just before bedtime).

Rebecca’s stories are spiritual in essence, weaving together the interconnected nature of soul lessons and kinships, the human condition, and the sweet synchronicity of life. Heal the Storyteller encompasses a number of diverse influences including historical and stereotypical Australia (Barramundi in the Bath and Ned Kelly in the Front Yard). It delves into a Middle Eastern context (Style Me Sheikh, Omani Skeletons and Ghosts of the Gulf).

Rebecca pays tribute to her own English and Anglo-Indian heritage (Portsmouth to Victoria, Grandmother in the Ganges and Bolly the Wood). In conjunction, there are topical stories related to the pandemic and political stage (Hygiene Hoarding and The Tweeting Twit). Rebecca encourages the reader to open the book at any page to find solace and meaning in her words.

“To be able to connect with someone’s soul through language is the greatest of privileges; the greatest of freedoms.”
