My Name Is PALOMA

Author(s): Barbara Booth

Animals | Childrens Picture Books

Paloma, a beautiful white dove, arrived on my doorstep, lost and without her tail feathers.

She waddled into my home and made it her own. I believe Paloma chose me. I think she had learned the hard lessons for birds in the wild and welcomed a safe haven.

It turned out to be a mutual arrangement of great joy, respect and humour as her tail feathers grew back.

She lived a happy life for 14 years as a domestic pet in an apartment and invites children to fly with her on her daily routine and meet the wild pigeons who are her friends.                                                                                                                          Barbara Booth

Barbara Booth began writing while still a Primary School Teacher-Librarian.

As a freelance journalist, her articles appeared in national newspapers and magazines for 25 years, until she retired. She now enjoys writing reviews of music, ballet and theatre.

This book is her first, not only as a memoir to Paloma but a tribute to the Avian Veterinarians who care so much for our birdlife. Paloma is a domestic white dove whose story is told to children through pictures and words.
